"Ooruku Selvom Naam"

"Enna dhaan endraalum adhu nam thai naatai pola varuma"

I am going to Chennai tomorrow, two weeks break. The moment i think about it "vayithukula pattam poochi parakura feeling".
I have been telling this to all my friends for the past one month, that I am going to chennai this friday.

I am just searching for answers as to why I get this feeling, even though the place where I am residing now is cleaner, advanced technically, has good infrastructure and all the other stuffs...

I am staying in a place which is more alike Chennai,
we all work for food, (sorry dont know about you all, but this is the biggest driving motivational force behind me working). Theres no problem with food here, I get good indian foods here.
My parents come here often, I am staying with my brothers family and many of my friends are here.

But still I get the same feeling when I think about going home.

I am writing this blog on a thurday afternoon, not able to do any work because I am going home tomorrow.

There are two sides of me trying to prove me why do I get this feeling each time when I go back home.
The diplomatic side of me, says that "human mind is always resistant to change and since i was brought up there, I get this feeling and as everyone say time is the best answer and this feeling will slowly fade away if I stay here longer".

The patriotic side of me says that " Enna dhaan endraalum adhu nam thaai naatai pola varumaa and many slogans like east or west my home town is the best"......

Just dont care, which side of me may be right,

To all those, who forgot, I would like to remind you all that
"I am going to Chennai tomorrow"

people working abroad or studying abroad, take a break.. go back home, see your loved once.. you will also get the same feeling.....

The awakening call.

Its really difficult to pen down these things, but the reality is that truth is always hard to believe.

India, a damn big country with a land area of 3.3 million square kilometer and a population of 1.12 billion people.

So, this blog will be on India and I would like to start this blog with a song from the film " Unnal Mudiyum Tambi" a tamil film released in the year of 1988. The song goes this way,
" Punjai undu nanjai undu pongi varum gangai undu
Panjam mattum innum inga theerala
Veedhiku oru katchi undu saadhiku oru sangam undu
Needhi solla inga oru naadhi illa
Sanam nimmadhiaa thoonga oru naalum illa
Idhu naada illa vaerum kaada
Idhai kaeka yaarum illai thozha"

I still feel the same way in 2009.

Poverty still grips of millions of people in India. Many die of malnutrition. Its high time we focus on this issue,
If we want India to grow, it should be an uniform growth. If only one side of India grows then its actually some defect.
Take your body for example, if all the parts grow uniformly then you are normal, but just if your leg or arm grows then you are in serious trouble and that is the same case with India.

There are also other serious issues which we need to focus,
1)Energy,
2)Pollution,
3)Education,
4)Poverty

Energy : We all were aware of the time when there were frequent power cuts. But there are so many people who have not even experienced the effect of electricity. Many living in hill stations, where it is difficult to construct grids and then supply electricity renewable energy is a very good option.

India receives approximately 275 days of sunlight every year. India receives so much solar energy which is far more than the total energy consumption of the country. Presently more than 90 % of the energy demand in India is met by fossil fuels.

Presently, the Indian government has decided this is the way to go, and they are focusing more on solar energy and electrifying India completely.

We need to tackle all these economic hurdles quickly and grow. The pollution and the carbon dioxide emission have to be controlled.
Next big hurdle is the poverty. Here are some stats
More than millions of people live below the poverty line and eating three meals a day is a big achievement for many.
But when u see the other side, like nearly four of the top 10 richest in the world are from India.

This economic gap should reduce and it s up to us to do something to bridge this gap.

India is a young country with an average age of it s population to be 24.8 years of age. I think this is the right time for the things to change.

There is no sacred thing in this world, than helping the fellow human being. We dont have to build the people a beautiful home, or give them a brand new car..

All we have to do is to provide education for all the people and see to that they get three meals a day.

Change is the only thing that is constant ever, SO let s hope and do all the things that is required for a beautiful place to live in.

Solar - The need of the hour.

Hi,
Solar energy .
Making electricity from sunlight, which other wise is going to be wasted. Around 0.02% of the total solar energy is sufficient to replace all the usage of fossil fuels and nuclear power as an energy resource.
So, to everyone who by chance came to this blog, this blog will completely focus on the solar energy and the need for it.

Lets get started. Solar energy is the most abundant renewable energy resource.

Solar energy is actually the suns rays that reaches the surface of the earth. This energy can be used in two ways and by the way, this energy is being used, it has two divisions:

1) Solar thermal: As the name indicates, solar thermal is the process of using the suns rays to produce heat.
Some of the applications where the solar thermal concept has been widely used are the solar water heaters, and the solar cookers.

2) Photovoltaics: Producing voltage from light is photovoltaics. This is where, the solar cells comes in to picture. Solar cells generate electricity when sunlight is incident onto it.

A 1 cm by 1cm solar cell, produced from silicon can generate a voltage of 600 mv and a current of 35 mili amps.
These cells can be connected in series or in parallel according to the desired application and be used.

Some of the most attractive, fascinating advantages of these solar cells are :

1) They can be used for a variety of applications ranging from powering your house to powering the small calculator. No other renewable energy resource has this unique potential.

2) The solar cells are given the guarantee of 20 to 25 years. Which other product in the market is given guarantee for such a long period?

3) There are many people in the world who are not connected to the grid (electricity supply). If you are going to install grids and then supply electricity to these people, then their lifetime would be over.

4) Conversion from sunlight to electricity is direct, you dont require any big mechanical generators and other stuffs to produce electricity.

5)Last but not the least, the most important advantage of photovoltaics is that it creates clean energy. It is free and it does not pollute the air or water.

Of course, the electricity from solar energy is costly and hell a lot of research are being done to bring the cost down. The most important research that is being done, is to produce the solar cells in a cost effective way.

Its time to act intelligently, to protect the environment for our future generations. Enough of being selfish and enjoying everything for ourselves.

The carbon dioxide emission has increased drastically and if it is not controlled, then that means the end. If we continue to keep burning the coal and oil for producing electricity, of course we can survive, what about our children who are going to stay here? Just to give you all an insight of what is happening around, the global temperature has been increasing. We living in tropical countries will not feel the difference if the temperature rises by one or two degrees, but this temperature change is drastic for people in Europe where they can feel the change, see the ice melting. Just imagine what will happen if this temperature keeps increasing,
the glaciers melts, the sea level increases and the people living near the coastal areas will be affected.

The electricity produced from coal is cheap, but do we take into account the amount of carbon dioxide they produce to generate the electricity. Lets start taxing them based on the amount of carbon dioxide they emit and then compare the prices for electricity with that of the solar electricity. You will know then which is cheaper and safer.

The main drawback with solar energy is that lack of people's knowledge on this topic. We are all with the wrong notion that this form of energy is damn costly and not for our generation. If we keep believing like this, then we will not have our future generations here.

Solar is the way to go, As long as the sun is available, we will have clean electricity. Lets go for the greener cleaner environment.
